INVESTING To WIN I 91

my book, Rich Dad Poor Dad, and my board game CASHFLOWare
international winners. We are not doing this book together because I am an
international winner in real estate as he is, although I do own millions of

dollars ofproperty and businesses around the world. In business and real
estate investing, I have won, I am awinner, I am aprofessional, but I am not

in the top 10 percent as he is. As an author, I am in the top 10 percent; in
fact,RichDad Poor Dad has been touted as the third longest-running best
selleron the New l'Ork Times best seller list. Not bad for a guy who flunked
out ofEnglish twice in high school.
      DonaldTrump Plays ToWin

In Phoenix, Arizona, where I live, Donald came to town and stirred up
quite a controversy. He and his team wanted to put up a high-rise on
Camelback Road, between 24th and 32nd streets. This is the prime ofprime

locations in Phoenix. The locations between 24th and 32nd streets are like
Boardwalk and Park Place in the game ofMonopoly. He wanted to put up
the tallest building on Camelback Road, but there were height restrictions

for where he wanted to build.
For a number ofyears, the debate went on. The question in town was,
should Donald Trump be allowed to build the tallest building in the best
location? Mywife and I wanted Donald to win. Why? Becausewe also own
residential and commercial properties on, near or between 24th and 32nd
streets. If Donald Trump won, we won.

In the fall of 2005, the residents of the area voted not to allow Mr.
Trump to build the tallest building. After the vote wascounted, the residents
Were willing to allow him to build a high-rise, but not the height he wanted.
With that, Mr. Trump simply pulled out.

During one ofour meetings in New York about the book, I asked him
about the vote in Phoenix. He seemed unphased. All he said was, "If! can't
build the tallest and best building, I don't want to build." He then showed
tne a spectacular building in Dubai he was building. Pointing with pride to
this futuristic building, he said, "Why should I be upset with Phoenix when
      I'tn busy working on this?"
