jealousy, pushed to its most unhealthy extreme. When a person is jealous, he
wishes that he had what his friend already has. When a person is envious,
he also wishes that his friend didn’t have it either.
Both emotions cause many people to be unsupportive of others who
are trying to get more out of life. It’s important to be aware of our own
thoughts and actions, and those around us as we aspire for greater levels of
success.
Don’t be surprised when you realize that some people are unsupportive
because they think your expectations are unrealistic. You can’t expect people
to feel the same intense passions about your personal growth and progress as
you do; only you understand the intensity of your desire to pursue your vision.
The antidote:
Intentionally seek out a handful of supportive people, or safe people,
who can give you the encouragement and inspiration you need to move
forward. That’s why I created an online community of people at john
burley.com. You are welcome to join our discussion forum, where you
will find an entire community of likeminded people who support each
other as they pursue and achieve financial excellence. Surrounding
yourself with safe and supportive people is critical when you are making
significant changes in your life. Positive people spur us on to believe in
ourselves and take positive steps.
Grabbing hold of your vision is an exciting step toward becoming fi nan-
cially free. In the next chapter, we look at the financial habits that will help you
achieve your vision. For more information, visit johnburley.com/trump .
