was thinking about Norman Vincent Peale, so I mentioned
Ihim in a speech I gave where my point was that positive
thinking really works. Dr. Peale wrote the classic book on this
topic called, The Power of Positive Thinking (New York: C.R.
Gibson, 1956). I attended Dr. Peale’s church in New York City,
and I heard him speak some years back. What I took away
from his speaking is that positive thinking is creative think-
ing. You can’t be positive unless you also make an effort to
