This advice has served me well. In the Harvard MBA program, I
discovered that I loved consumer product marketing, and I came up with a

single-minded goal to be a general manager some day. I specifically
looked for and started out in an entry-level marketing position with a
major consumer package goods company that was well known for its
marketing training. I moved my way up the ranks, changed companies
when I had to, but stuck to my field and industry until I accepted an offer

to be President and CEO of another well-known consumer products
                company.
