I realize my father was instilling leadership values in me by
selecting certain bits of wisdom from many ages. These lessons went
into my subconscious, surfacing to help me as I encounter situations
that they might pertain to. That's why I'm still big on quotes; they
can be a direct hit on negative or confused thinking. So when people
hear me quoting or referring to a variety of great thinkers throughout
history, they now know it's something that was started at a young age
and that I have continued to do. And it started when I was in military
