I suggest you take an in-depth look at your lifestyle and the kind
of person you are. Do you like simplicity? Doyou like complexity?
To me, moneyis like health. Health is very important to our well-
being. You can have loadsof money, but if you're not in good health,
it's not so great. Money has its limitations. I say that in order to set
you up to think about what you already have going for you.
If I had no money, but was healthy, I know I could make a fresh
start of things by being diligent and patient. Due diligence is
increasing your financial IQ daily by keeping up with world events
and reading financial publications. Patience is realizing that things
take time, effort and thought.
I would make sure that any ideas I had for making money were
based on a reality check. The stakes get higher aswe get older, and
there's less leeway for making big mistakes. But hopefully we have
a little more life experience to draw upon.
I was talking with Allen Weisselberg, my (FO, one day, and he
mentioned how when he was a young teacher just out of college, he
would introduce new lessons by starting with something known to
the students before introducing the unknown. He was especially
concerned that high schoolstudents had no money skills, which in his
mind, meant their life skills were something to worry about. He

liked to go shopping. They all did.
